Mahindra plans to launch hybrid Scorpio, Ingenio next year

Aiming to get the first mover's advantage, Mahindra & Mahindra said on Wednesday it will launch the hybrid version of its Sports Utility Vehicle Scorpio by next year.

"Currently we are working at both mild and full hybrid of Scorpio and the first prototype will be running by January and we plan to introduce the same in the market by 2008 itself," M&M President (Automotive Sector) Pawan Goenka said in New Delhi on

the sidelines of the SIAM Annual Convention.

He said the company was also on track to launch its indigenously developed SUV 'Ingenio' by next year.

"The primary focus is on diesel engine for Ingenio," he added.

Commenting on its tie-up with Renault, Goenka said that it was both for cars and light commercial vehicle.

"The light commercial vehicles through the tie-up is expected to come up in the next two years," he informed.
