September 14, 2005 11:08 IST

Salil Kapoor, head - marketing services and brand, LG Electronics (India), has put in his papers.

What is likely to draw the attention of those who have been tracking the developments at the company and generate speculations is that Kapoor's decision to move out of LG has come barely after a month of the appointment of Girish Bapat as vice-president of the company's marketing and sales division.

Kapoor worked with LG for seven years. He has confirmed his resignation.

"After serving LG for seven years, the time has come to look at new opportunities and challenges. I am looking at a couple of options, which are different from my responsibilities at LG," said Kapoor. "Salil Kapoor has been a part of LG Electronics right from the beginning and has contributed towards making the company grow from strength to strength during this period," said Yasho V Verma, director - human resources, LG Electronics.

"On behalf of the company, I would like to wish him the best in all his future endeavours," he added.

Kapoor was re-designated head of marketing services and brand after the appointment of Bapat, with the company announcing Bapat's appointment as part of a new marketing strategy.

"The plan is to make Bapat responsible for the marketing activities and Kapoor for the brand and image," a company declaration had said.

Prior to joining LG, Bapat headed the marketing division at Mahindra & Mahindra, and before that he was with Godrej.
