Nissan, Leyland to beef up team for JV

Japanese automobile major Nissan Motor Company and Hinduja Group's flagship Ashok Leyland are looking to fortify their management teams for Light Commercial Vehicle joint venture.

Ashok Leyland has formed a JV with Nissan Motor Company in the light commercial vehicles segment. With an investment of about Rs 2,300 crore ($575 million), the JV has formed three companies for vehicle manufacturing, power train manufacturing and technology development.

With a targeted first phase capacity of 100,000 vehicles the two companies plan to scale up the production subsequently.

The JV is currently looking for functional heads, middle and junior managers in various operations such as, product design and development, manufacturing, quality assurance, plant engineering, process planning & execution, IT and finance and audit.

The company is looking for professionals with experience levels ranging from 3 to 15 years, Nissan Ashok

Leyland Technologies Pvt Ltd said in a public advertisement.

The advertisement stated that all the positions in the various segments would require candidates with formal technical and professional qualifications from reputed institutes and having relevant domain or functional experience.

Yesterday, Ashok Leyland and Nissan had signed an agreement with the Tamil Nadu government for setting up a manufacturing facility to roll out 190,000 light-range vehicles.

Leyland also plans to set up a heavy vehicle factory with a capacity of 100,000 vehicles per year.

A Memorandum of Understanding for these projects, with an investment of Rs 1,450 crore (Rs 14.50 billion) was signed by these companies with the Tamil Nadu government.

These projects would come up at Ennore and Hosur, where Leyland already has units and at Pillaipakkam in Kancheepuram district, providing direct employment to 4,500 people and 13,500 indirect employment, the company had said.
