Lenovo announced on Thursday the launch of its first innovation centre in India in partnership with global giants like Intel, Microsoft, IBM and Cisco, which would focus on the development of new PC solutions.

The India centre, located in Mumbai, would be Lenovo's third innovation centre globally after China and the US.

The company said in a release that the centre would enable large enterprise and mid-market customers, business partners, solution providers and independent software vendors to collaborate on new personal computing solutions.

Intel, Microsoft, LANDesk, IBM and Cisco will partner with Lenovo at the India Innovation Center to showcase new enterprise level PC solutions in areas such as hardware platform and application integration, active management technology, network connectivity and power management.

Lenovo Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Deepak Advani said the company aims to accelerate innovation for diverse client challenges and developing markets with this centre.

"The India Innovation Centre will serve as a collaboration venue for fully integrated solutions along with our alliance partners," he added.

"Our decision to base the third innovation centre in India is a testimony to the importance Lenovo ascribes to India as one of our fastest growing markets and recognition of the unique, large enterprise and mid-market customers here," Lenovo South Asia Managing Director Neeraj Sharma said.
