Laptops are now available for less than ever in India.
Notebook-manufacturer Acer has priced its entry-level Aspire range of notebooks at Rs 29,999, while Hewlett-Packard has slashed its notebook prices by up to 17 per cent.
H-P's entry level notebook PCs cost Rs 35,000. Zenith has priced its notebooks at Rs 32,000, while IBM laptops are available at Rs 43,900. Dell's entry-level notebooks, however, are the most expensive at Rs 51,900.
With the price war in the notebook PC market setting in, it is expected that other manufacturers IBM, Dell and Zenith -- too might effect a price-cut soon.
Acer's Aspire range starts from Rs 29,999, while its TravelMate series is priced at Rs 33,999 onwards. Acer is also offering a further Rs 2000 off on these four models for students as part of its Student Rebate Programme.
Acer is offering a range of four TravelMate notebooks to customers starting at a price point of Rs 33,999 through to Rs 64,999.
The range of notebooks includes the TravelMate 2303FLC, TravelMate 4000FLCi, TravelMate 2308NLCi, and the award winning widescreen TravelMate 4002 WLCi.
The notebooks feature latest Acer Signal Up Technology(tm), new sleek folio design and Acer e-Manager technology.
IDC figures state that Acer India has also climbed to the No. 3 position among notebook vendors in India. This again is a step forward to further consolidate Acer India's market standing.
In addition to the aggressive price points of its notebooks, Acer has also announced an enhanced bundle offer of a PD 113 DLP projector and an upgraded notebook TravelMate 2308 NLCi available Rs 99, 999.
The TravelMate 2303FLC is an entry level Intel Celeron M Processor 340 (1.5 GHz) with 512 KB cache and 400 MHz FSB. It has a 40 GB hard disk drive, 256 MB RAM, CDRW/DVD combo and comes pre-loaded with Linux OS at a price point of Rs 33,999, plus taxes.
