KingfisherKingfisher Airlines, which is reeling under more than Rs 7,000 crore (Rs 70 billion) of debt, owes dues of about Rs 280 crore (Rs 2.8 billion) to the Airports Authority of India.

"Kingfisher owes dues of Rs 279.52 crore (Rs 2.79 billion) towards landing and parking, RNFC, Licence Fee, etc, to Airport Authority of India," Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.

He said continuous monitoring is done by the AAI to ensure

that airlines pay their dues in time.

"In case of default in payment by airlines, measures like charging of penal interest, withdrawal of credit facility are taken and the airlines are put on 'cash and carry' policy," he said.

Replying to another query, Singh said that reports have been received that employees of Air India and Kingfisher Airlines have not been paid salary regularly.

"However, the Ministry has no information on the current status and extent to which salary and wages to the employees of private airlines have been paid," he said.
