The Nasdaq-listed information technology company Keane Inc will triple its headcount in India to 5,000 next year to expand operations and will chalk out plans for the fourth development centre in the country.
"We will be a 5,000-strong company by the end of 2005 from the current 1,600 and out of that 3,000 would be in IT services while the remaining 2,000 in the BPO services, Parminder S Miglani, managing director, Keane India, told newspersons in New Delhi.
He said the company is considering the possibility of establishing a fourth development centre in India by next year, but has not so far decided on the location.
In terms of expansion, Keane India will raise the strength of its three development centres -- Noida, Gurgaon and Hyderabad -- this year-end or early next year.
In the case of Gurgaon, the centre's headcount is going to be 1,000 from the current 500 while the Hyderabad centre will add 350 to its existing 600. The Noida centre will have 60 more people to the current 350, he said.
The company had announced a $25 million investment earlier this year.
For the current year, the company aims to grow at over 100 per cent in India.
Keane India has been assessed at SEI-CMM Level 5 of the Software Engineering CMMI version 1.1 across all its advanced development centres.
The company will now strive to achieve People Capability Maturity Model, he said.
Keane India focuses on verticals like finance, banking, insurance, healthcare and manufacturing. It has 45 customers in India and it mostly serves to Keane Inc, its parent.
