For ex-servicemen who are craving for a second career, jobs may be a mouse click away with the Indian Army launching an e-recruitment portal on Tuesday.
The Army Placement Agency's website -- www.apa.co.in -- would serve as a common platform for the "ex-servicemen on the look out for a second career" and the agencies searching for such persons.
Launching the portal, Army Chief Gen J J Singh said, "this is our endeavour to help our energetic, enterprising and productive retired personnel find a suitable job."
The General said that the new initiative, which saw nine months of "hard work" for execution, would open up new avenues of jobs, which were otherwise "restricted" due to the "large areas of responsibility bestowed upon by the APA.
The website, which will have an "all India identity and reach," would also provide awareness about the APA.
It would have separate sections for both the job hunters as well as the potential employers and the registration is free of cost.
A security system has also been installed to check all entries for any possible fraud.
The website will also help the personnel to prepare resumes, get interview tips and negotiate salaries.
