Private sector airline Jet Airways will give its A340-300E aircraft on short-term wet lease to Air-India to operate a daily flight between Mumbai and London.

Air-India and Jet Airways (India) Ltd have signed a short-term agreement to use the latter's wet leased aircraft till July 27, 2005, for operating seven flights a week between

Mumbai and London, five non-stop flights and two flights via Ahmedabad, A-I said in a release on Thursday.

This is, however, subject to receiving necessary approvals. The new A340-300E aircraft would be used by Jet Airways for the wet lease operations, it said.

The agreement would enable Air-India to meet its short-term capacity requirements while simultaneously helping Jet Airways to utilize its spare capacity, it added.

The flights would operate in a two-class configuration of 38 Business Class and 231 Economy Class seating.

Under this agreement, Jet Airways would provide the aircraft, the cockpit and cabin Crew and will be responsible for total maintenance of the aircraft, it said.

A-I would provide inflight catering on these flights and operate them as Air-India flights, it added.
