After Sahara, Jet flies to Colombo

A day after Sahara Airways operated its inaugural international flight, Jet Airways on Tuesday launched its Chennai-Colombo services.

Jet will operate daily services between Chennai and Colombo departing Chennai at 11.30 am, landing at Bandarnaike International airport at 1.20 pm (local time), and returning to Chennai at 3.35 pm after a 85-minute halt, a Jet Airways release said in Mumbai.

The one-way economy class on Chennai-Colombo sector will be Rs 4,145 and for business class Rs 6,615, the airline said adding that a special return excursion fare of Rs 7,460 between these two destinations would be available till April 30.

It has also offered several inaugural fares so as to enhance traffic from various points in India to Sri Lanka as it progressively plans to link Bangalore, Thiruvananthapuram and Mumbai with Colombo.

Tuesday's inaugural flight had a senior management team of the airline led by its chief executive officer Wolfgang Prock-Schauer along with a full complement of passengers, the release added.
