The finishing school of Raman International Institute of Information Technology, claimed to be the first such in the country, will select its second batch of candidates from across the country.
The first batch got an encouraging response with 800 students applying to the finishing school, established on a 2.5-acre plot allotted by the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board in the Hebbal Industrial Area, Mysore.
The selected 68 students are attending the programme now.
"While our selection was limited to South India and was more confined to Karnataka, we will be promoting our admission for the second batch across India," RiiiT Managing Director and CEO S V Venkatesh told Business Standard.
"Spread across 25,000 square feet built area, the campus is wi-fi enabled.
The courses were launched during June last. The industry interface is very good.
Every week, CXO meets are arranged. This month, we have launched the admission process for the second batch. The intake is among the BE and B Sc mainstream students," he said.
Established with the objective of training students who would be industry-ready IT professionals to bridge the gap between IT industry requirements and quality talent pool graduates, RiiiT is supported by Information Technology and Biotechnology Department of the Government of Karnataka.
"Our plans include addressing the industry talent's crunch by enhancing the talent pool to optimise the industry's potential through its well-defined world class curriculum designed keeping in mind the growing demands of the IT industry.
The institute is focussing on providing innovative ICT solutions for education globally and to actively co-ordinate with IT companies to meet their huge employable manpower requirement," Venkatesh said.
IT, BT and ST Secretary M N Vidyashankar will inaugurate the RiiiT campus on November 24.
This will be followed by a career conference aimed at educating freshers on the present requirements of the IT industry, challenges of tier II city students in the IT segment, and how to equip them to meet the IT industry requirements.
