Rural development minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh said on Tuesday a model Village Resource Centre would be opened within three months in any backward area of the country to provide essential agro-based information to farmers via satellite.

"We have to achieve the target of covering all 2,38,000 village panchyats in the country by opening up VRCs, which will be connected through satellites and provide all necessary information to the villagers regarding their crops, health, and marketing", the minister said.

The problem of unemployment and migration in search of jobs could be tackled only when latest technologies are made available in villages, he said adding that "researches should reach rural areas, come what may to draw maximum benefits out of them".

Inaugurating a programme on 'Rural technology and development and people's action for rural development: Future role of CAPART' in New Delhi the minister said target of ensuring jobs to all could be fulfilled only when at least one person of a family could be associated with self help groups.

The person should be trained in his area of interest and put on the job.

"The aim is that he should earn in his own village by utilising his knowledge and village resources", the minister said.
