To contain misuse of LPG cylinders in markets, Indian Oil Corporation will soon bring out a system by which cylinder refills for domestic use will be coloured differently from those for commercial use.

LPG cylinder refill for commercial purpose would be of oxford blue colour and those for domestic consumption would be coloured red, general manager, LPG-IOC, Mrinal Roy told reporters after inaugurating SMS refill booking service in five districts of Rajasthan.

Similarly to address customer complaints regarding the quantity of fuel in LPG cylinders, Roy said the refill boy would be asked to carry a weighing machine, to be used in case the customer puts forward a demand for verifying the weight of the cylinder.

People using LPG cylinders in vehicles would have to get a connection and get it refilled at an outlet being opened in parts of the country, including Jaipur, Roy said.

The refill booking through SMS would be available in the country by January 2007 and the dealers would be asked to set up a computer unit for this purpose, he said.

SMS refill booking would cater the needs of 15.75 customers in Rajasthan, Chief Area Manager of Rajasthan zone, Subodh Dakwala, said.

SMS users would get an instant acknowledgement of their request and booking registration number.
