A Bangalore-based RJ will fight it out with 14 other contestants from across the globe for 'the best job in the world' -- caretaker of a tropical Australian island.
RJ Anjaan, a 28-year-old radio jockey who is skilled in Bollywood dancing, will fly on May 3 to Hamilton Island along with 15 other candidates for the final selection. The prize is a $150,000 six month contract to look after the tropical island, ABC reported.
Touted as the 'best job in the world,' it requires one to swim, explore and relax in the island in the Great Barrier Reef, while writing a blog to promote the area, ABC said.
The Queensland government's tourism body announced 15 finalists, including a Canadian journalist, a Japanese receptionist and German actress. Also battling it out will be wildcard entry Clare Wang from Taiwan.
The job, which received a whopping 34,000 video applications, is part of a campaign to publicise the charms of the northeastern island. Tourism Queensland CEO Anthony Haye said it has already generated more than 100 million Australian dollars worth of publicity for the region.
The winner will be announced on May 6, with the job set to begin July 1.
