January 09, 2015 20:44 IST

Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka, who shuttles between San Francisco and Bangalore to balance his family and work life, believes that India lives in his heart.

Sikka, who took over as the first non-founder CEO of the country's second largest IT services firm in August last year, stays with his family in the US.

Talking to reporters in Bangalore, Sikka said he is spending a lot of time in India.

"I have to spend a lot of time here, most of the people are here... everywhere I go, there is just a tremendous amount of love," he added.

Asked about any plans to relocate to India, Sikka said: "...right now my family is travelling with me. Home is where the family is. It would not be wrong for me to say that whether, I live in India or not live in India, India lives in my heart."

Sikka is spending a lot of time in the country visiting Infosys offices, meeting employees and clients.

Speaking to reporters in June last year, Sikka said: "I live in California and I plan to continue living there. My family is in California... I'm looking forward to spend significant amount of time here in Bangalore."

Beating expectations, Infosys on Friday reported 13 per cent jump in consolidated net profit for the third quarter to Rs 3,250 crore (Rs 32.50 billion), helped by increase in business and clients from North America, as also from India.

Its consolidated revenue rose 5.9 per cent to Rs 13,796 crore (Rs 137.96 billion) in the quarter ended December 31, while it maintained its revenue outlook for the entire fiscal ending March 31.

Infosys gets roughly 2.5 per cent of its total revenues from India but a significant proportion of its employees are from this country.
