IBM to step up recruitment

Those are looking for IT jobs right from the campus selection can well hope for some good news soon, as IBM is on a hiring spree.

As a part of their new recruitment policy, half of the new recruits would be hiring at universities.

"We are the number one recruiting firm in India and we recruit 2000 people a month," she claimed "India which produces 2.46 million graduates every year, is a very important destination for us," said Pari Sadasivan, vice president, human resources, IBM.

According to her the employment generated by IT sector is 1.6 million each year and the IT export from India is 36 per cent.

"The service sector which provides 54.1 per cent of the jobs in India at present, would provide 70 per cent of the jobs by the next 20 years," she added.

The IBM India has the employee strength of 53,000 and the company has registered a growth rate of 38 per cent in the last 5 years Sadasivan, while speaking at a conference said that in the next fifteen years around 40 million IT jobs would be created around the world as 70 million IT people from the "baby boomers" would be retiring world over and the supply at present rate at that time would be 40 million.

In another development IBM India is looking to promote leaders to lead globally. "Our aim would be to identify leaders from India, every quarter," she added.
