IBM on Thursday announced the launch of 12 IBM Rational version 7 products, the new suite of software delivered through the IBM software development platform.
The new IBM Rational Software Development Platform products enable greater innovation by automating the software testing process and tracking changes made to software code, senior company executives told a news conference here.
As a result, they said, development, test and production teams can better collaborate and break down silos for improved delivery times, lowered costs, and greater software quality.
"It strengthens customers' ability to manage geographically distributed development, meet regulatory compliance demands and support SOAs," IBM said.
Said Steve Robinson, Vice-President, IBM WW Sales, Rational Software, Software Group: "When software development is managed as a business process it becomes a driver of innovation and competitive advantage. Governing the development process allows organisations to take an integrated approach to software development that aligns line-of-business, development and operations teams to improve overall business performance."
With the new offerings, IBM said it allows organisations to govern their software development as a business process through globally distributed development.
According to IBM, in India, the total application development software and quality and life cycle tools market was estimated to be $61 million in 2005 and the company claims to have a 40 per cent marketshare.
