Hyundai India crosses 20-lakh mark in sales

Hyundai carHyundai Motor India announced on Tuesday it has crossed 20 lakh (2 million) sales mark in the domestic market.

"Today is a red-letter day for all of us in Hyundai. We are extremely delighted to share this achievement with all our stakeholders and we believe this was possible because of our total commitment to the Indian market and the faith our customers have put in our products. . .", Hyundai Motor India managing director and chief executive officer H W Park said.

The South Korean auto major which entered India in 1998 through its flagship compact car Santro, has reached the 20 lakh (2 million) car production for domestic market in 12
years.

With these achievements, HMIL becomes only the second manufacturer in India after Maruti Suzuki to reach these distinctions.

At its manufacturing facility in Sriperumbudur near Chennai, the company currently produces seven models in the passenger car segment and exports to more than 115 countries, the statement added.
