Dilip Chhabria to design Hutch mobile shops

February 03, 2006 18:25 IST
Leading GSM brand Hutch has tagged on to renowned car designer Dilip Chhabria to develop models needed for introducing mobile shops in West Bengal where the combined subscriber base was in excess of 1.3 million.

DC has been engaged in the design of specialised vehicles, which would move around the city and suburbs for increasing sales and to provide better customer care, CEO of Hutchison Telecom East Sridhar Rao said at the launch of Hutch Mobile Shop.

He said initially, one such shop would do the rounds, which would be followed by more in the coming months. With 41 Hutch Teleshops and five Hutch Shops operating in the city, mobile versions would help customers living in the suburbs to get better service, Rao added.

Till January, the subscriber base of Hutch in Kolkata circle was 8.6 lakh, while the number for the West Bengal circle was over four lakh.

Rao said Hutch services would also be available in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands for which work would start in two months time. Hutch is the first telecom company in India to launch mobile shops, he said.
