Making out a strong case of it being a favourable destination for investment owing to its geographical location, Hong Kong on Friday invited Indian companies to tap the market in sectors like transportation, construction, IT, financial services and banking.

Indian companies could use Hong Kong as a gateway for trade and investment in China, associate director general of Invest Hong Kong, Simon Galpin said, adding that it was handling about half of all exports of China and accounts for an equal amount of foreign direct investment flow into the mainland.

Interacting with industry captains here at CII, Galpin said already there were about 1000 Indian companies in Hong Kong which provided 'support and infrastructure to trading,

procurement and distribution companies.'
