Godrej seminar on soy milk benefits

Godrej Industries Ltd's foods division, the manufacturer of Sofit Soymilk, along with the Indian Medical Association and the American Soybean Association, conducted a seminar on the health benefits of soy titled 'Soy Milk Nutritional Health'.

The seminar was held on June 9 in Mumbai. Similar seminars were also held in Hyderabad, Bangalore and New Delhi.

Godrej Sofit Soymilk, the only national player has decided to spread the awareness on the benefits of consuming soymilk.

Commenting on this M Y Varma, executive vice-president (sales and marketing), GIL Foods Division, said, "Godrej plans to create awareness across the country about the health benefits that Soya proteins possess. The US FDA recognizes that 25g of Soy Protein in a day as a part of diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol may reduce the risk of heart disease. Soya Protein also contains cancer-fighting compounds called Isoflavones, which reduce the risk of various types of cancer such as breast, colon and prostrate. Soymilk is also fit for lactating mother, post-menopausal women, geriatrics and diabetics."

Other speakers who participated in Mumbai included Sunita Kshirsgyar, Nanda Shimpi and V C Panjabi, Indian Medical Association Mumbai Branch, and G Subalakshmi.

Godrej Sofit is the first of its kind soya milk drink in India available plain as well as in 3 flavours viz. mango, apple and malt. This health drink is made up of soy milk and real fruit juices. Sofit Soymilk contains several valuable nutrients like calcium and vitamin D in balanced proportions.
