GMI sells over 1,000 Chevrolet Optra cars

July 29, 2003 17:56 IST

General Motors India on Tuesday said it has sold over 1,000 units of the premium mid-size car Chevrolet Optra since its launch earlier this month.

The 1800cc car is the second model to be launched under the Chevrolet brand by GMI after the sports-utility-vehicle Forester.

The company expects to garner volumes through vehicles under the Chevrolet brand by targeting the mainstream market.

It has targeted to sell around 1,000 units of the new Optra car per month, a company statement said.

GMI is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the United States-based auto giant General Motors Corp and sells cars under the German-engineered Opel and Chevrolet brands in the country.
