Gas Authority of India Ltd said on Thursday that it is eyeing exploration blocks in Argentina and Mozambique and planning city gas projects in several countries to expand its international operations.
"As of now we have an offer from Shell for a block in Argentina, which we are evaluating. We are also looking at a project in Mozambique," Proshanto Banerjee, chairman and managing director of Gail told Reuters.
State-run Gail already has a 10 per cent stake in the A-1 gas field off Myanmar's northwestern coast.
"In 10 years I expect foreign operations to account for 15 per cent of our turnover. The turnover should double to $5 billion by then," Banerjee said.
He said the company had also prepared a detailed feasibility report for a city gas project in Dhaka in neighbouring Bangladesh and is in talks for similar projects in Cairo, Manila, Istanbul and the Iranian city of Isfahan.
Last week, the company said it was aiming to conclude talks with Royal Dutch/Shell on city gas projects in Egypt by the end of July.
