The Association of Computing Machinery, an industry body that represents the computing professionals globally, is organising a forum which aims at bringing together the academia, research labs, investors, start-ups and non-IT companies for building an ecosystem.
The forum also aims at fostering the development of local technology ecosystem by providing young entrepreneurs with hand-holdings and ideas to grow their businesses.
As part of this, ACM-Bangalore chapter is going to organise Compute 2008, an event, which will bring together researchers and practitioners in computing to debate and share the latest developments in contemporary computing.
Over 400 professionals, including over 100 researchers and academics, 100 entrepreneurs, 15 investors and 60 IT & non-IT companies are expected to participate in the three-day event that will start at IISc, Bangalore on January 18 this year.
The forum will also organise another parallel event called HeadStart!. Corporates, entrepreneurs and investors will discuss how to drive the growth of a Silicon Valley-like system in India.
"We believe that technology expertise is very much required to build world class product companies. An ecosystem like this will bring the depth and breadth for the young entrepreneurs in India, to teach them how to survive in the long-run," said Murali Gandhi, who chairs the ACM Bangalore chapter.
