United Kingdom-based FCUK has entered the Indian market by introducing its collection of watches that would be marketed by Timex Watches Ltd.

FCUK, which has around 27 designs, has launched around 13 versions, including Argyll Street, Long Acre, Oxford Street and Cambridge, a Times Watches media release said on Tuesday.

The British company says FCUK stands for French Connection United Kingdom.

The controversial British fashion company sells a variety of things, from clothes to perfumes to watches to designer goods.

The British company has been in the eye of a storm in the UK, the United States, Hong Kong and other nations over its name and 'FCUK' logo.

The Times of London reported recently that the American Family Association has successfully pressured several leading US department stores -- including Macy's and Bloomingdale's -- withdraw all French Connection's products.

The action came after FCUK's $10 million marketing campaign in American teen magazines under the slogan 'Scent to Bed.' The ads, for a new fragrance aimed specifically at teenagers, were inserted into the September issue of popular magazines such as Maxim and Teen People.

The Times said the ad -- featuring a young, half-dressed couple embracing on a bed - invited readers to lift a flap on the page to smell the scent, with the line, 'Open here to try FCUK her.'

Family campaigners and Christian groups staged an Internet campaign, accusing the company of using its 'FCUK' slogan to make 'millions by exploiting our children,' said The Times.

French Connection, which has been criticised in Britain and the United States for promoting the risque acronym for French Connection UK, is now advertising its FCUK IT brand name on buses and posters.

T-shirts on sale in the first of the joint venture shops in Hong Kong bear the logo 'FCUK IT NOW,' although the shop itself bears the French Connection name.

The company's campaign has been branded 'tasteless and obnoxious' by a British high court judge. The company's advertisements are banned in Vancouver after bus drivers label them 'workplace harassment'. Singapore authorities call for them to be toned down.

The British Advertising Standards Authority received 27 complaints about the logo on its launch, said The Times.
