Digital GlobalSoft Ltd, an Indian arm of Hewlett Packard, said on Tuesday it was still considering its future operating structure following the global merger of Hewlett and Digital's former parent Compaq Computer Corp.

Hewlett, which owns 51 per cent of Digital following the acquisition of Compaq in May last year, has a separate Indian software services company.

There has been much stock market speculation that the two Indian software units may merge.

"The future business and operating structure of Digital GlobalSoft is under consideration," a Digital statement said on Tuesday.

"Until such time that a conclusive decision is arrived at, the Digital GlobalSoft board has officially indicated that the company's business will continue as usual," it said.

Digital, which employed 2,490 people at the end of March -- 68 per cent more than a year earlier, earned 70 per cent of its revenue of Rs 4.4 billion ($93.3 million) during the past year, from Hewlett Packard.

Earlier, the firm said its net profit for the fourth quarter ended March rose 13 per cent to Rs 30 crore (Rs 300 million), on revenue that rose 28 per cent to Rs 127 crore (Rs 1.27 billion).

A Reuters poll of 14 brokerages in early April had forecast a net profit of Rs 29 crore (Rs 290 million) on sales of Rs 120 crore (Rs 1.2 billion).
