Faced with the ever-growing passenger rush on metro trains, Delhi Metro is planning to launch six coach trains on all its routes from May this year which is expected to ease pressure on over-crowded lines.

DMRC managing director E Sreedharan said six coach trains will be introduced from May on all lines. "We will be introducing six coach trains from May this year. This will ease pressure on over crowded lines. We are getting more and more trains," he said.

Currently, Metro trains have four coaches and the DMRC has been planning for a long time to add two more coaches to the trains. "Now every 10 days, one train is being added to the network," he said on the sidelines of the launch of Yamuna Bank-Anand Vihar line.

About technical glitches on new lot of trains procured from Bombardier Corporation, Sreedharan said a team of engineers from the German train maker is camping in the capital to check the trains.

"The engineers' team is here and they are checking the problems. It is being taken care of," he said. He said Inderlok-Mundka metro line will be inaugurated by February and the Gurgaon line will be thrown open to public in May.

The DMRC chief also said till September 2010, at least one metro line will be thrown open every month. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said the DMRC was looking into technical glitches on trains and will take necessary steps.
