Global professional services organisation, Deloitte Touch Thomatsu on Wednesday said it would increase its headcount in India to 12,000 by 2010 from the current 7,500.

"We intend to increase the number of people employed in the company for India operations to 12,000 by the end 2010 from the current 7,500," Deloitte Asia Pacific CEO Manoj Singh said.

To expand its presence in India, the company had earlier announced an investment of $50 million by 2010, he said.

The company, which acts as an agent to help firms in innovation, intends to focus aggressively in Indian markets and expect a lot of growth in India, he added.

Deloitte already has offices in as many as 13 locations across the country and is investing in personnel, technology and infrastructure in the country and entire Asia Pacific region, company's CEO William G Parrett said.

"Last fiscal we registered 11-12 per cent growth in our global revenues and intend to continue with the same," Singh said. It posted revenues of 20 billion dollar globally and $2.1 billion revenue in Asia Pacific region in the fiscal ended May this year.

The company provides professional services and advice in four areas -- audit, tax, consulting and financial advisory services.
