Deccan flies 15 mn passengers in 4 years

Low-cost carrier Deccan on announced that it has crossed the 15 million passenger landmark in a short period of four years.

Deccan said in a statement that it has recorded a 23 per cent year-on-year increase compared to passenger volume in 2006. The average load factor in the January-July 2007 period was 81 per cent against 76 per cent in the last calendar year.

This year Deccan has already flown 6.79 million passengers as against 5.55 million passengers flown between January and December 2006.

"It is further estimated that by December 31, 2007, approximately 7.3 million passengers would have flown Deccan, in this year alone", the statement said.

Ramki Sundaram, officiating CEO, Deccan, said this year Deccan began operations to Leh, Dharamshala, Shimla, Jodhpur, Udaipur and Jamshedpur and increased frequency on other sectors as well.
