Cartier, the most prestigious jewellery watch maker in the world, has proposed to set up its exclusive boutique in India to step up its sales in the country, Igor Baschet, area sales head, Cartier India said on Saturday.

At  the launch of 'Tankissime', an exclusive collection of Cartier jewellery watches, he said the boutique would either be set up in Mumbai or Delhi in the near future.

During the two-day 'Tankissime' and exclusive Cartier Watches Exhibition in Chennai, the company would showcase a wide collection of jewellery watches. "Its jewel, showing time", he said displaying the collections.

The retailers could not keep the models in the shops as they were very expensive, he said.

While the diamond studded steel watches were priced between Rs 75,000 to Rs 3 lakhs, the diamond studded gold watches were priced between Rs 8 to 9 lakhs. The most expensive watches were priced at Rs 44 lakhs, he said.

Refusing to give sales details in the country, Baschet said there was a positive trend and the market was picking up in the country.

In the last three years, the company had witnessed a 30 to 50 per cent growth rate in revenue and expect the same trend to continue in the coming years.

The company had 15 retailers in eight cities in India and proposed to expand the retail chain.
