Mahindra launches the XUV500 Xclusive Edition

Only 700 units of this edition will be made by Mahindra

Mahindra has launched the XUV500 Xclusive Edition for about Rs 16 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The XUV500 is the flagship model of the Mahindra brand and now this limited edition XUV500 gets an electric sunroof, reverse parking camera and voice messaging services too.

At the launch of this limited edition model, Mahindra & Mahindra chief marketing officer – automotive division – Vivek Nayer said, “The XUV500 Xclusive Edition will create a new benchmark in premium-ness and exclusivity, to further enhance the XUV500’s appeal amongst its customers and fans.”

He also added that this model has been launched after receiving the feedback from the current XUV500 customers.

Only 700 units of this edition will be made by Mahindra and this will be available only with the top-of-the-line W8 variant. This variant already gets features like six airbags, ABS, touch-screen system with satellite navigation. There is a facelift version of the XUV500 that is due as well, however there is no clarity on that.

Budget 2015: Complete Coverage

The XUV500 is Mahindra’s first SUV that is based on a monocoque chassis and is a front-wheel-drive or an all-wheel-drive. This SUV is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 140bhp of power and comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission. There are three variants of the XUV500, W4, W6 and W8.

Only the W8 gets AWD option and it is only the W8 is only available with the Xclusive Edition. The other new products from Mahindra will the U301 (next-generation Bolero) and the compact SUV, which are due to be launched in less than a year’s time.
