Under the tie-up, value-added coconut products, including tender coconut water, coconut vinegar, coconut chips and spray dried coconut milk powder, would be on display and sales at the kiosks to be put up at the BPCL petrol bunks, board sources told PTI.
In the first phase, 10 such petrol stations have been identified in Kerala for test marketing of these products.
The first kiosk was inaugurated by R S Pande, additional secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, this month. To prepare a suitable model of the kiosks, the CDB has invited entries from architecture departments in engineering colleges throughout the country.
The selected model would also be rewarded. After evaluating the progress of sales at the kiosk, which has already started functioning in Kochi, nine others would be set up, most likely in the BPCL petrol bunks on the national highways.
The board would set up the kiosks and entrust it to BPCL for operating it. Such an attempt would help in promoting value added coconut products and spreading its awareness.
The board has also roped in sprint queen P T Usha for promoting tender coconut water. A promotion advertisement film featuring Usha, had been completed and was being aired on television, the sources said.
