Bosch Bengaluru plant workers go on strike

March 08, 2013 13:08 IST

StrikeAuto component maker Bosch Ltd said on Friday workers at its Bangalore plant have gone on a tool down strike from Thursday without prior notice.

"Workmen of the company's Bangalore plant have resorted to an illegal 'Tool Down' strike w.e.f. end of first shift of March 7, 2013, without giving any prior notice to the management," the company said in a filing to the BSE.

Without disclosing how much production has been affected, it said:

"Efforts are in hand to resolve the matter with the Union and restore normalcy at the earliest."

The company's Bengaluru plant has a history of workers unrest and in September 2011, the plant was shut down temporarily following strike by workers.

Bosch Ltd shares were trading at Rs 8,300 in the midday trade, up 0.27 per cent from the previous close on BSE.

The strike at Bosch comes on the same day when auto major Mahindra & Mahindra announced that the 3-day tool down strike by workers at its Nashik plant has been called off.
