Blow Plast Ltd, the marketing arm of VIP Industries-the largest luggage manufacturer, has decided to launch Carlton brand of luggage early next year.
Carlton is the third largest soft luggage brand name in Europe, which VIP Industries has recently acquired.
The company has also decided to source soft luggage from China to compete with low-end luggage from the unorganised sector that has been eating into the organised luggage segment.
VIP Industries has recently acquired Carlton Luggage Plc along with its brand name and has transferred its entire manufacturing facility to India.
"We plan to launch the Carlton range of luggage early next year and this would be positioned in the premium segment," explained Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, vice president-sales, Blow Plast Ltd while talking to Business Standard.
"The Carlton brand had a very strong hold in Scandinavia, but the company ran into some financial trouble and was bought over by VIP Industries. We would also be exporting these products to the European market once production in India stabilises. The idea is to retain the strong hold in the European market that the brand commanded," he added.
