Lodha case: Birla plea rejected

A division bench of Calcutta high court upheld on Thursday an earlier order rejecting the caveatable interest of three members of Birla family in the probate petition of Rajinder S Lodha in the Priyamvada Birla estate case.

The bench comprising Justice P C Ghose and Justice T K Dutt rejected the appeal of K K Birla, B K Birla and Yashovardhan Birla challenging the order of a single-judge bench.

The bench rejected Lodha's appeal challenging the caveatable interest of G P Birla, which had been upheld by the lower court earlier.

Lodha, a chartered accountant, declared more than two years ago that the entire estate has been bequeathed to him by Priyamvada Birla, who died in July 2004 leaving behind no heir.
