In view of stagnation being witnessed in the fixed line telephony, the company has decided to focus in a big way on manufacturing other products, especially broadband products including ADSL modems, Rakesh Bharti Mittal, vice-chairman and MD of Bharti Teletech said marking the fastest one million production achieved at its facility in Ludhiana.
The feat has been completed within a period of five months and three days. With the achievement of the one million mark, the facility, which manufactures telephone instruments under both the GE and the Beetel brand names, has achieved record production levels.
The company is now planning to produce the next million phones within next four months, he added.
The company is likely to come out with products having compatibility with the SIM card of cellular phone. "We are launching new fixed line phones in 2.4 Ghz frequency by November, which can read the memory from the cellular SIM cards and store it in the fixed line phone," Mittal said.
Besides this, the company is also looking at manufacturing fixed cellular terminals and phones on GSM platform.
These would be similar to the fixed wireless phones of CDMA-based fixed line operators like Tata Teleservices and Reliance Infocomm.
