Five officials from ABN Amro's top echelons have joined Barclays group's investment banking division, Barclays capital.

The new members, Jitesh Gadhia, Marc Holtzman, Simon Hargreaves, Jason Rynbeck and Frank Hancock, would report to Barclays European Investment Banking and Debt Capital Markets' head John Winter, Barclays said in Mumbai on Tuesday.

"The appointments will significantly enhance our ability to advise our clients on corporate strategy, divestitures and acquisitions with particular focus on clients in high growth markets in Asia, Central and Eastern Europe and West Asia," the company said.

The team will operate in different areas across credit, equities, fixed income, currencies and commodity platforms, besides accelerating the growth of advisory-led activities with the bank's corporate clients, it said.

The investment banking division has operations in a broad range of financing and risk management products and services to corporations, governments and financial institutions across the globe, the company said.

Barclays Capital has offices in 29 countries and has an employee strength of 16,200 across the globe, the company said.
