Chhattisgarh government on Wednesday attached properties worth Rs 10 crore (Rs 100 million) of aluminium giant Balco for non-payment of state government dues, official sources said.

"Aluminium ingot worth over Rs 10 crore of Balco was attached on Wednesday for non-payment of dues to the state government," official sources told PTI from Korba district headquarters.

Korba district collector issued notices to the Sterlite-led Balco on April 13 to pay a royalty of Rs 8.63 crore (Rs 86.3 million) for extracting benedium sludge during processing of alumina from bauxite, sources said.

The district administration issued final notice on May 16 to deposit the royalty, they said, adding, on non-payment of royalty, the administration attached the aluminium ingot from the premises of Balco.

Balco spokesman Deepak Pachpore refused to comment.
