Mumbai-based television soap maker Balaji Telefilms is diversifying into ad film-making.
The company, which is expanding its operations by foraying into production of ad films and corporate films, has appointed Kalpana Ravi, who has 15 years of experience in the field, head of the new venture.
"We have already established ourselves in the television industry as well as in films with quite a few successful serials and movies to our credit. Being a television production house, we already have the required in-house expertise, and producing advertising and corporate films is just an extension of our working arm," said creative director Ekta Kapoor.
"We have a production infrastructure few can boast of. This can be put to good use in providing value for money to clients. While we don't intend to come in at the low end, we can make sure that we deliver value for the buck," she added.
Kapoor further said, "We are always looking to expand our boundaries, not limiting ourselves to any particular thing. Advertising, which holds vast potential, we think, deserves our attention."
