Mumbai, Thane autorickshaws threaten indefinite stir

More than eight lakh autorickshaws in Mumbai and Thane district will go on indefinite strike from midnight of April 21 to press for their long pending demands. 

Representatives of all the rickshaw union attended the meeting held by the federation irrespective of their party affilitation where their issues were disscussed at length, Rickshaw Unions Federation President Prakash Penkar told the reporters at Thane on Sunday.

Their demands include not to permit six seater rickshaws, not to allow the inter jurisdiction movement of rickshaw (Mumbai to Thane) and compulsion of electronic meters among others.
