'Ford Endeavour is indeed the best SUV in its segment'

August 13, 2019 10:11 IST

There's hardly anything that can go wrong with this vehicle since it offers everything that a buyer in this segment would ever want.

In 2016, Ford India came out with the new generation Endeavour which impressed everyone with its looks, road presence, interiors and of course performance.

The new Endeavour has been gaining popularity over the past couple of years and many SUV buyers also shifted loyalties from Toyota to Ford.

Now, the automaker has launched the facelifted version of the SUV which gets minor changes.

A layman wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the pre- and post-facelift Ford Endeavour because the changes to the exteriors are very minor.

You get a tweaked grille, new alloys and slightly redesigned headlamps.

Apart from that, Ford has introduced a new colour which you see in these pictures and it's called Diffused Silver.

The interior of the new Ford Endeavour is largely similar to the older car apart from some small changes.

The Endy now comes with the SYNC3 infotainment system which combines a crisp touchscreen with excellent audio output.

The seats are very comfortable and supportive and outward visibility is excellent.

The driving position of the Endeavour is one of the talking points and it offers a commanding view ahead.

Things are similar at the rear too with very good space and comfortable seats on offer.

The Ford Endeavour is offered with two diesel engine options but 4x4 is available only with the larger 3.2-litre engine.

The engine is a 5-cylinder unit which produces 200 PS and 470 Nm, mated to a 6-speed AT.

The engine is very punchy and the way it delivers performance makes you forget how heavy the Endeavour is.

It scores good on the refinement front too.

There is some turbo lag lower down but the mid-range is very strong and it has a wide powerband.

The 3.2 also comes with standard 4x4 and the Endeavour is a thoroughly capable SUV when you take it off the road.

It has various off-road modes and the high ground clearance is very useful.

This SUV has what you can call a go-anywhere ability.

What is positive is that the Ford Endeavour has a very light steering at low speeds and that makes manoeuvring the car a very easy affair.

In spite of its size, the SUV is easy to manage in the city.

The steering weighs up nicely on the highways as you increase speeds.

The ride is pliant for most part and feels quite stable at high speeds but at city speeds it does feel a bit stiff.

The brakes are very good for a car of this size and the NVH levels are also very impressive.

The Ford Endeavour is indeed the best SUV in its segment.

There's hardly anything that can go wrong with this vehicle since it offers everything that a buyer in this segment would ever want.

For those people who want be venturing in off-road conditions and will be using their car only within the city and on highways, we'd recommend the 2.2 because it has adequate power and offers decent fuel economy.

For people who love off-roading and want the additional power on offer at the cost of efficiency, the 3.2 is the one to go for.
