UTV Software Communications Ltd and its animation division, UTV Toonz, has entered into an animation deal worth $10 million with New York-based BKN New Media Inc.
With this deal, the international producer and distributor of animated children's programmes, BKN, has outsourced animation production to UTV Toonz. In the beginning there will be two 26-episode 3D series, Kong The Next Generation and another series, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Under the $10 million agreement, UTV Toonz has also bagged distribution, licensing and merchandising rights of some of BKN's high demand animation series --- Legend of the Dragon, Roswell Conspiracies and Starla & the Jewel Riders, among others, it said.
Some of these will also feature on UTV's Kids channel, Hungama TV, it added.
