Hyderabad will soon have an eight-lane expressway connecting Hi-Tec City, ISB, Sports village, Shamshabad international airport and Genome Valley.

Covering a distance of 110 km, the eight-lane expressway will also cater to the transportation needs of four townships coming up around the twin cities to link up with the mainstream.

This was announced by the chief minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, at an inaugural function of Biotec India International, Pharma India 2003 and Interkama India being organised by Cidex at Hitex in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

He urged the biotechnology department to set up their office in Hyderabad to offer better services to Genome Valley.

"Phase II of Biotech Park is coming up in 162 acres and we are aiming at bringing the world's top ten companies to Hyderabad. Out of 320 biotech units in the country, 120 are located in the city," he added.

MR Properties of Dubai would develop a 7,000-10,000 sft conference hall and 750 room-accommodation facility to meet the ever growing business demands, Naidu explained.

D Balasubramanian, the chairman of biotech advisory board of AP, said: "AP will soon become 'Vaccine Capital' with its USP of strength in developing, producing and marketing vaccines in domestic and international markets."

Naidu handed over allotment letters to the three companies setting up units at Biotech Park. He also released the layout of Marine Biotech Park proposed at Vizag and logo of Bio Asia-2004.
