Amul ice creams at petrol pumps!

June 03, 2003 15:42 IST

Want to beat the heat while your vehicle gets refueled! After convenience stores, ATMs, Internet cafes and grocery stores, ice cream parlours are the latest addition to the petrol stations.

Petro retailer IBP Co Ltd has tied up with Gujarat Cooperative Milk Federation Ltd, the promoters of Amul, for selling the cooperative giants' products like ice creams, flavoured milk, pizzas and sweets from its retail outlets, sources said.

The first petrol stations with Amul products would be launched on Wednesday in New Delhi.

Increasingly, oil companies are adding non-fuel items at their petrol stations to boost sales.

State-run Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation have already tied-up with a host of convenience chains and banks to add value to their petrol stations.
