Ambani brothers to share dais at Gujarat summit

January 09, 2009 18:08 IST
The Ambani brothers, Mukesh and Anil, will share dais at Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' Summit (VGGIS) beginning in Ahmedabad on January 12.

They have confirmed their participation in the inaugural session of the Government-organised summit aimed at inviting investments in Gujarat, officials said.

"Both brothers, Mukesh and Anil Ambani, will be attending the inaugural session of the summit, which will also see the presence of leading industrialists like Ratan Tata, Shashi Ruia and Kumarmangalam Birla," said a senior official in the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).

At the last summit in January 2007, RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani was present in the inaugural session, while the Reliance-ADAG chief Anil attended the valedictory function of the annual event.

Some of the companies headed by Mukesh and Anil, who parted ways in 2005, are currently embroiled in legal row.

According to the officials, this time Chief Minister Narendra Modi insisted that both brothers should attend the inaugural session of the two-day summit.

Bharti Airtel chief Sunil Mittal will attend the valedictory function on January 13, said the official.
