December 26, 2003 17:31 IST

India's first ever inside office golf tournament is set to be launched by Allied Domecq Spirits & Wine (I) Pvt. Ltd. (ADSWI), a subsidiary of Allied Domecq PLC, the second largest spirits and wine company in the world and 9 Yards Sports & Entertainment.

HSBC and The Acres Lifestyle Club are the sponsors of this event.

The competition will address young achievers across 60 blue-chip corporate houses in Mumbai. The event will be run by a team of 10 girls, called the 'Office Golf Team'.

The corporate championship is supported by Teacher's Highland Cream, the flagship brand from the Allied Domecq portfolio.

Extending the concept of Teacher's Achievement Awards, this golf tournament will epitomise outstanding performance and leadership qualities, which is the essence of the championship.

Neeraj Kumar, general manager - marketing, ADSWI, said: "In keeping with the spirit of achievement, we are pleased to be associated with the Teacher's Achievers Office Golf Championship and we believe this will create a memorable experience for all participants who not only get another medium of expression of their skill set but also share the celebration which goes with any achievement."

Said Navneet Sharma, CEO, 9 Yards Sports & Entertainment: "We are proud to initiate an activity which brings the game of golf to many more people than taking a few on to a golf course. This is in line with our vision of providing innovative marketing platforms."
