Cyrus P Mistry

Mistry, who was appointed chairman of the Tata Sons board in December 2012, has has been a director of the company since 2006.

He is also the chairman of leading Tata group companies including Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Jaguar Land Rover Automotive, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Power Company, The Indian Hotels Company, Tata Global Beverages, Tata Chemicals, Tata Industries and Tata Teleservices.

Mistry was earlier managing director of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group.

Mistry serves as the co-chair of the India-US CEO Forum and the India-UK CEO Forum. He is also a member of the Presidential CEO Advisory Board of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Amit Chandra

Chandra joined Bain Capital as Managing Director in early 2008 and is part of the firm's leadership team in Asia. Prior to joining Bain Capital, Chandra spent most of his professional career at DSP Merrill Lynch and retired as its board member and managing director in 2007.

Chandra serves as a trustee on several Tata Trusts and is a member of the Board of Directors of Genpact, Larsen and Tubro Finance, Tata Investment Corporation, Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Akanksha Foundation and GiveIndia. He is also founder and board member of Ashoka University.

Earlier this year, he was named in the Forbes 'Asia's Heroes of Philanthropy' List.
Venu Srinivasan

Srinivasan was appointed a non-executive director of Tata Sons on August 25.

He is one of India's leading industrialists, and has served as the president of the Confederation of Indian Industry for the year 2009-10; president of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers in 1999-2001 and chairman of the National Safety Council, Government of India.

Srinivasan is also the managing trustee of the Srinivasan Services Trust. He was conferred the JRD Tata Corporate Leadership Award by the All India Management Association for his contribution to leadership and management and the Jamsetji Tata Lifetime Achievement award by the Indian Society for Quality in the year 2004.

In recognition of his contribution to manufacturing, R&D, technology and quality excellence, he was conferred the 'Doctor of Science' degree by both the University of Warwick, the United Kingdom, in 2004 and the Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur in 2009, and 'Doctor of Management' degree by Purdue University, the United States.

He was conferred the Padma Shri in 2010 for his outstanding contributions in the field of trade and industry.
Ajay Piramal

Piramal was also appointed a non-executive director on August 25.

He serves on the Harvard Business School's Board of Dean's Advisors, serves as the chairman of Pratham (the world's largest NGO in primary education) and was the former chairman of the board of governors of Indian Institute of Technology Indore.

He served on the board of State Bank of India and has been a member of the Prime Minister's Council for Trade and Industry. He has been the recipient of several national and international awards, including the Forbes Distinguished Philanthropist of the year award.
Ishaat Hussain

Hussain took over as finance director of Tata Sons in July 2000. Earlier, he joined the board of Tata Sons as executive director in July 1999. He is also a director of several Tata companies, including Tata Industries, Tata Steel and Voltas. Besides, he is the chairman of Voltas and Tata Sky. He is a member of the Securities and Exchange Board of India committees on insider trading and primary capital markets. He is also a member of the Confederation of Indian Industry's finance committee.

Prior to joining Tata Sons, Mr Hussain was senior vice president and executive director of finance at Tata Steel. He joined the board of the Indian Tube Company (a Tata Steel associate company) in 1981 and moved to Tata Steel in 1983, after Indian Tube was merged with Tata Steel.
Vijay Singh

Singh, a 1970-batch retired IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, is a non-executive director of Tata Sons.

During his 37-year-long career, the positions he held at the Centre included director, department of culture; joint secretary and financial adviser in the ministry of health; additional secretary and financial adviser in the ministry of chemicals and fertilisers; and additional secretary in the ministry of information and broadcasting.

He became chief secretary of the Madhya Pradesh government in October 2004 and served there until January 2006.

He served as secretary to the Government of India in the department of AYUSH and, later, in the department of road transport and highways, before becoming defence secretary in August 2007. He served as a member of the Union Public Service Commission until April 2013.

Nitin Nohria

Dr Nohria, a non-executive director of Tata Sons, is the George F Baker Professor of Administration and the dean of the faculty at Harvard Business School. He previously served as co-chair of the Leadership Initiative, the senior associate dean of faculty development and the head of the organisational behaviour unit.

Dr Nohria has taught courses across Harvard Business School's MBA, PhD, and executive education programmes. His intellectual interests centre on human motivation, leadership, corporate transformation and accountability, and sustainable economic and human performance.

He is the co-author or co-editor of 16 books and over 50 journal articles, book chapters, cases, working papers and notes. He has served as an advisor and consultant to several large and small companies in different parts of the world.
Ronen Sen

Sen is an independent director on the board of Tata Sons.

Sen was India's ambassador to the United States from 2004 to 2009; to Mexico in 1991-92; to Russia in 1992-98; and to Germany in 1998-2002. He served as high commissioner to the United Kingdom in 2002-04.

From 1986 to 1991, he was foreign and defence policy advisor to successive prime ministers and had several assignments as special envoy of the prime minister for meetings with heads of state or government.

Sen joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1966. Between 1968 and 1985, he served in Indian missions in the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the United States and Bangladesh. He also served as deputy secretary, department of atomic energy and secretary to the Atomic Energy Commission, and as deputy secretary and joint secretary in the ministry of external affairs.

He has participated in around 180 bilateral and multilateral summit meetings in six continents.

Sen has also served on the board of Tata Motors as a non-executive independent director from 2010 to 2012.
Farida Khambhata

Khambata is also an independent director on the board of Tata Sons.

She is global strategist of the investment advisory firm Cartica and a member of its investment committee.

Prior to joining Cartica, Khambata was a member of the International Finance Corporation's management group, the senior leadership team of the financial institution.

In her last position at IFC, she served as regional vice president in charge of all operations in East Asia and the Pacific, South Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean and the global manufacturing cluster.

She was responsible for strategy, investment operations and advisory services in IFC's member countries in these regions, which account for about three-quarters of all of IFC's investments. She also oversaw all equity investments globally and investments specifically in agribusiness, manufacturing and services, and health and education.
