May 06, 2009 18:49 IST

Distribution system player Galileo announced on Wednesday launching a new solution linking over 10,000 hotels, bread and breakfast and guest-houses across India by 2012.

The 'Galileo Budget Hotels' solution would enable customers to access midsized hotel providers, guest houses, heritage properties, homestays and camps in real time with the Inventory Management System, Galileo said.

"The non-air segment on Galileo GDS, which includes hotels has witnessed an growth of over 65 per cent year-on-year. . . Now, with Galileo having these exclusive budget hotels content also, we expect the growth to at least double this year," Galileo India president and CEO J B Singh said.

He said the new system would run on commission basis and travel agents can book at these places in Indian currency with any credit card.

"The (Indian travel) industry has always craved for a single window option (for unorganised budget hotels). Through this tie-up Galileo has made sure that this long pending demand of the industry is fulfilled," Singh said.

Galileo has a global reach in over 83,000 hotels and 12,000 travel agency branches and terminals, it added.
