Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group chairman Anil Ambani called on corporate affairs minister Prem Chand Gupta on Wednesday.

It was not clear what the deliberations at the meeting were about.

The meeting comes in the backdrop of Ambani's call to market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India to maintain confidentiality of accounts while counter auditing the books of those companies that figure in stock trackers such as BSE sensex and Nifty-50.

Sebi's decision to audit the accounts of companies with large market capitalisation was aimed at preventing Satyam-type frauds which resulted in turmoil on the stock exchange leading to erosion of investors wealth by Rs 2.5 lakh crore (Rs 2.5 trillion) during a day's trade.
