GlobalLogic, Mobikon to introduce 'Konekt'

BS Reporter in Mumbai/Pune | May 15, 2008 11:05 IST

Leading software services firm GlobalLogic and Pune-based cellphone application developer Mobikon have joined hands to offer certain public services and bookings through mobile phones.

Users just need to download an application, called 'Konekt' and place requests using GPRS service to book hotels, hire cars or call electricians and plumbers for domestic work.

The service will initially be available in Pune and launched in Mumbai and Delhi at later stages.

"We are looking at mobile phone users who are busy with their daily schedules and want to access various services but are not aware of the contact points for the same.

Using the 'Konekt' application developed by us, users can place requests for various services and get their issues addressed within few minutes," said Mobikon CEO Samir Khadepaun at a press conference on Wednesday.

The service as well as the software download are free of cost and any GSM cellphone user having GPRS access can use this facility. The service, as of now, does not have payment gateways and hence will not deal with services that require on-line payment.

"We plan to introduce railway booking, air tickets at a later stage," Khadepaun stated.

Mobikon has tied up with more than 70 partners in Pune out of which, 40 are restaurants. "This service will benefit newcomers in the city, who are not aware of good restaurants or other services in the city.

"The application will also have a search option so that users find it easy to place requests," he added.
